a Physical Chemist, worked in a variety of Research and Development areas for a major multinational (Unilever) for over 25 years. Spent first six years on detergent projects then moved to the Netherlands for three years as a laundry detergents manager. On moving back to UK, became Technical Head for New Business for Lever Europe and subsequently took responsibility for Trade and Environmental aspects of Packaging for Unilever Home and Personal Care. Subsequently took on the role of Unilever Technical External Affairs Manager - Packaging for over eight years before leaving to become a consultant. Was a member for twelve years of the Unilever Corporate Packaging and Environment Group latterly becoming secretary of that group, Chaired the EUROPEN Regulatory Affairs Committee for eight years. Since becoming a consultant, he became an advisor to Unilever and more recently has undertaken projects for both EUROPEN and Recoup industry organisations.

a Polymer Physicist has worked in the packaging industry for 38 years for both manufacturers (Metal Box) and users (Unilever) of packaging. Spent ten years as Director of the Packaging Division of Pira before moving back to Unilever taking responsibility for Personal Care packaging in Asia before moving to Italy to take responsibility for packaging at the Global Dental Innovation Centre and then on to a similar role in the Spreads Category in Rotterdam. Both at Pira and Unilever he played a major role in identifying and evaluating new packaging technology from around the World. He was a member for seventeen years of the Unilever Corporate Packaging and Environment Group becoming Chairman of that group, Global Issue Leader for packaging and a member of Corporate Policy Group.” Since becoming a consultant he has been an advisor to EUROPEN and has carried out projects for EUROPEN, ECR Europe and a major European packaging manufacturer.

a Physical Chemist, joined Unilever in 1975, spending time as a trainee at a specialist oils and fats production site. Following a spell in Technical Service moved to Industrial Sales and then Oils and Fats Buying at Head Office. Later moved to Packaging Buying then taking on responsibilities for Ingredients and Meat, all in a UK based operating Company. Gradually
widened area of responsibility as Unilever moved from Local to European and then Global Supply Management, leaving at the end of 2007 as the Global Tubs and Lids Manager. Global Supply Management was principally responsible for the co-ordination of their total requirements through data collection, analysis, strategy formulation and implementation as well as giving advice. Operational aspects were generally managed at a local level. He was directly involved in the Producer Responsibility aspects of the Packaging Regulations at the operating company level, having responsibility for making the first few submissions to Valpak.
